Jio News With Support for Over 12 Indian Languages Debuts on Android, iOS, Web
In the midst of the ongoing election season, Reliance Jio introduced Jio News on Thursday—an online aggregator presented in the form of the Jio News app for Android and iOS devices, along with the web-based Jio News service. This initiative aims to deliver real-time updates on various significant events, including the 2019 Lok Sabha and Assembly Elections and IPL 2019. Jio News supports more than 12 Indian languages and provides news content from over 150 live news channels, 800+ magazines, 250+ newspapers, as well as various online blogs and news websites from India and around the world. Leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, the platform curates the “most relevant” content for users by scanning thousands of news sources.
Offering news content in widely spoken Indian languages such as Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Urdu, Jio News allows users to personalize their homepage by selecting their areas of interest, including politics, sports, entertainment, business, technology, lifestyle, fashion, health, and finance, among others.
In addition to text-based news, Reliance Jio’s Jio News provides access to over 150 live TV news channels and trending videos across various genres, including automotive, Bollywood, fashion, health, technology, and sports.
Jio News essentially consolidates Jio XpressNews, Jio Mags, and Jio NewsPaper, incorporating live TV and videos into a unified offering. Existing users of these apps will be seamlessly migrated to Jio News, and Jio users will receive exclusive “premium access,” while non-Jio users can access all features by logging in during the trial period.
The platform features a dedicated Newsstand section for reading magazines and newspapers without downloading them. Additionally, the Jio News app enables users to peruse magazine issues and newspaper archives from the past.
Available for download on the App Store and Google Play, the Jio News app is also accessible on desktops through the web-based service.
